Best Salesforce SMS Apps to Consider

Does Salesforce include SMS?

No. Never has.

Salesforce is a CRM. Texting was never part of the core build, and it’s not becoming one anytime soon. So if you want to send an SMS from a Lead record, you’re installing something from AppExchange, full stop, no way around it.

That’s the whole reason this list exists. Seven apps claim to do the same job. They don’t, not really, and the gap between them is bigger than most buyers assume when walking in.

How to choose a Salesforce SMS app

Three questions. Answer them honestly, and half this list disappears on its own.

Who’s running this day-to-day? An admin who lives inside Flow wants something built on Salesforce SMS Automation from the ground up, no exceptions. Marketing teams usually couldn’t care less about that part. They want a send list built fast and the campaign out the door by Friday.

Channel count matters more than people think it does. SMS alone is a different purchase than SMS plus WhatsApp plus five channels, none of which anyone on the team has touched yet. Paying for fifteen when you’ll use two? That’s just money sitting on a shelf, doing nothing.

And then compliance. A staffing firm texting candidates across state lines carries different risks than a healthcare org bound by HIPAA. Some of these apps hand you granular consent controls the day you install. Others assume you’ll build that yourself. For some teams, that’s a dealbreaker before they’ve even seen a demo.

Answer those three. The list gets short fast.

Best SMS Apps for Salesforce to Consider

360 SMS App

Built inside Salesforce. Not connected to it, not synced with it through some background job, actually built there. Every message, every record, lives in the same place your reps already work.

15+ channels run through it: SMS, MMS, WhatsApp, ringless voicemail, CTI, Viber, WeChat. All from one console, Conversation Manager, which is a lot more than an inbox. Bulk message from there. Edit records inline. Create tasks, export to PDF or Excel, all without a single tab switch. Watch someone do their job without that kind of setup sometimes. It’s rough.

Automation runs through Salesforce Flow and Apex. iText handles surveys and chatbots with zero code required. Compliance is where it really separates from the pack, though: opt-in and opt-out sliced by geography, language, department, even down to the individual contact, with custom criteria added in a couple of clicks.

15+ channels is a lot to take in at once. Figure out which ones you’ll actually touch before signing anything. Nobody needs all of them on day one, and most teams never will.

Mogli SMS

Mostly nonprofits and education, and that shows up everywhere in how the product’s built, right down to the pricing model.

Unlimited users is the headline, and it’s a real one. One license: everyone on the team can text, no per-seat math every time headcount shifts. That’s exactly why a lot of nonprofits land here first.

Text-based surveys are where it earns its keep, honestly. Structured data intake, enrollment campaigns, stakeholder outreach at real scale. It’s not trying to be everything to everyone. Two-way conversations. Bulk sends. Workflow triggers. That’s the app.

Fewer channels than most names on this list are worth flagging. If SMS and WhatsApp cover what you need, that’s not a limitation. That’s just the right-sized tool for the job.

Conversive for Salesforce (formerly SMS-Magic)

One of the longest track records on this entire list, and the rebrand to Conversive hasn’t touched the bones of it much.

SMS, MMS, RCS, WhatsApp, Messenger, LINE, Viber, all covered, with a no-code journey builder running the automation side of things. Compliance is genuinely where this one pulls ahead. A setup wizard walks admins through TCPA, GDPR, CCPA, and CASL configuration step by step, and quiet-hours enforcement ships built in rather than getting bolted on as an afterthought six months later.

That depth costs something. Expect a real setup lift before this one’s dialed in the way you actually want it running.

Now runs as a separate package for Marketing Cloud, worth knowing if that’s where you’d deploy. And confirm the current AppExchange rating directly; don’t take anyone’s word for it, including this one.

Sinch Engage (formerly Mercury SMS)

Same product. New name. Mercury SMS became Sinch Engage after Sinch bought MessageMedia in 2021, and it’s still live on AppExchange under the new branding today.

SMS, MMS, WhatsApp, RCS. Pricing starts at $10 per user per month with a five-seat minimum, a floor that might rule out the smallest teams before they even get a look at the interface.

Here’s the catch nobody mentions upfront: you need a separate Sinch account connected alongside the Salesforce package. So it’s not quite the single-vendor setup it feels like from inside Salesforce. Messages log to the activity feed on related records. Flow handles the automation.

Since Sinch is the carrier underneath everything here, pricing and delivery both trace back to that relationship. Not just what shows up on the Salesforce package price tag.

GirikSMS (Smart SMS App by Girikon)

Built by Girikon, a Salesforce consultancy, live on AppExchange since 2017. Lighter than most apps on this list. That’s deliberate, not a shortcoming.

Single and bulk SMS or MMS from standard or custom objects. WhatsApp, WebChat, two-way conversations tracked through a shared inbox. That’s the feature set, and it’s not chasing channel count the way 360 SMS or Conversive are.

What Girikon leans on instead is the consulting relationship itself. Hands-on setup help rather than a sprawling self-serve menu of features. Works well if your team wants a partner walking through it with you. Works less well if you’d rather just configure everything yourself and move on.

Public compliance documentation runs thin here compared to the bigger names on this page. Ask directly about opt-out handling before anyone signs.

ValueText

Newer to the market, moving fast. Native SMS, WhatsApp, MMS, Telegram, CTI, and AI agents built into the core package from the start, not sold back to you later as an add-on.

Compliance reads broad on paper: GDPR, HIPAA, TCPA, SOC2, all listed right there on the AppExchange page. The chat console handles one-to-one conversations cleanly enough, and templates, file sharing, and auto-responses all come standard instead of getting upsold piece by piece.

It’s a younger product than most on this list, which isn’t automatically a problem. But if you’re planning a multi-year rollout, ask about longevity and support depth before you commit budget to it.

Twilio for Salesforce

The name everyone already knows walking in. Twilio’s Salesforce package brings SMS, MMS, and WhatsApp into Leads, Contacts, and Person Accounts, starting at $15 per user per month, plus a separate Twilio account running its own billing underneath the whole thing.

This is the developer’s pick. Not the admin’s, not really. Twilio Studio and the underlying API hand you real control, more than any point-and-click app on this page offers. But that control assumes technical resources a lot of SMB teams simply don’t have sitting around waiting to be used.

Reviews run mixed on AppExchange, and that’s worth sitting with for a second. Some users love the flexibility outright. Others flag support gaps that never quite got resolved. Read a real spread of them. Not just the three at the top.Get the Best Texting Solution

Salesforce still doesn’t ship with native SMS. That’s not changing soon, if ever. What’s changed is the amount of choice filling that gap, lightweight single-purpose apps on one end, full multichannel platforms running AI agents on the other. Worth a look too: Salesforce Digital Engagement, if the real need is Service Cloud support messaging rather than bulk outreach.

For a Salesforce-native option covering the most ground, Salesforce SMS breaks down what 360 SMS App handles across channels, automation, and compliance.

Questions? We’ve Got Answers

It depends heavily on which one you're looking at. Some price per user, starting around $7 to $15 a month. Others quote per-org based on volume and channel count instead. Mogli sells a flat unlimited-user license, which flips the math completely if your team is large. Get quotes for your real seat count. List prices rarely tell the whole story anyway.

Usually, yes. One reason mostly explains it: data stays inside Salesforce records instead of syncing back and forth with something external. Native apps also tend to plug more cleanly into Flow. That said, native isn't automatically the winner if the app itself is thin on features you actually need day-to-day. Check the substance. The label alone won't tell you much of anything.

Technically, sure, nothing's stopping you. In practice, it's more work than most people expect when walking in, since message history, opt-in records, and automation logic all need migrating or rebuilding from scratch, and that rarely happens cleanly. Treat this like a long-term decision. It isn't a trial you can walk back cheap.

Most do. 360 SMS App, Conversive, Sinch Engage, ValueText, Twilio, all covered. Mogli and GirikSMS too. Twilio needs more legwork through its own API for WhatsApp Business approval, where the rest of the list handles that configuration inside the app for you.
